Dental Evidence for Non-Smoking as a Consultant

Abstract
Objective: This study explained the harmfulness of smoking in the dental because the oral organization is affected directly. Nevertheless, there was no research work over the harmfulness of smoking in the dental area. Especially, smoking caused the disease, the adverse effect over the treatment and the social expense resulted from the disease and adverse effect.

Methods: Dentists have lots of chances to contact with patients, so dentists could comprehend the smoking state of the patients well. In some surveys, general people said that a dentist was the most proper specialist for the treatment to stop smoking.

Results: Thus, dentists could be a specialist for the treatment to stop smoking like doctors and nurses. In Korea, the pre-insurance service started in March, 2015. However, most Korean dentists lack of experience as a specialist for the treatment to stop smoking.

Conclusion: Therefore, the standard recommendation for the treatment to stop smoking by the Association of Korean Dentists is needed.
